ECS has completed projects with virtually every major mass transit system and pulp and/or paper producer in the United States. We have provided cable for the retro-fit and/or new construction of several major car manufacturers’ facilities and chemical plants. Our customer base includes a wide range of utilities including numerous co-generation facilities. OEM customers of ECS have specialized applications and design criteria such as continuous operating temperatures ranging from -200°C to 450°C.
Mass Transit
Mass transit systems are designed for long life and constant stress. These systems demand high value, dependable components from specialized providers. Our Mass Transit experience spans four decades and includes work in 18 of the states with mass transit systems, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Venezuela. We understand mass transit design requirements and know the best sources for relevant types of wire and cable. Our experience includes traction power cable, OCS, signalization cables (including custom inductive loop cables, fiber optic cables, cab signalization cables, flexible cables, etc.). ECS works closely with contractors to stage wire and cable for planned maintenance shutdowns and systems upgrades. We are experienced with multiple shipping destinations or reel tagging for longer lines and supply full test reports when relevant.

Power Generation & Distribution
ECS has provided a wide range of wire and cable products for the power industry to both investor owned and municipal utilities. Our products are used in all types of generating units and switchyards.
Power generation projects require a wide range of cable products. These include 35 kV URD cable for wind generation, and medium voltage power cable, tray cables, instrumentation cable, electronic and fiber optic cables for more traditional generating plants. Cables are available with a variety of jacketing and/or armoring options. We provide high temperature cables for burner front applications and flexible cable constructions for connections where vibration is an issue. On a large highly engineered project like a power plant, our unique CableTrac tracking system, detailed submittals, and full test reports provide a level of service not available from other distributors.

Pulp & Paper Mills
Over the past 20 years ECS has fulfilled the cable requirements for the construction and upgrades of pulp and paper plants across the country. These harsh environments require cable and wire products produced by qualified manufacturers. We make special efforts to ensure our submittals are complete and tie directly to our customers’ specifications. Certified test reports are supplied as needed for the most stringent design requirements. Whether the cabling need is power, process and control, VFD, medium voltage, fiber optic, or instrumentation, ECS has the best sources identified. We work very closely with owners and their contractors to manage logistical details inherent in shut downs, successfully working with the often tight time constraints associated with such projects.
